Split input spectra files¶

We define two new input spectra format 'SplitFits' and 'SplitAscii'.

• The 'SplitFits' format is the same that the TIPS format (cf User guide) but the spectra could be define in several files.
The input catalog must have an additional column 'MODFILE' which contain the absolute path to the spectra file to be used for each object.
The input catalog still need a column 'MODSPEC' to set the hdu of the object spectra in each files.

Example:

inCat = "path to input catalog file"

# initialize the class
obs = tips.Observation(inCat, inSpcForm='SplitFits')

• The 'SplitAscii' format able to define single spectrum in ascii files.
The input catalog must have an additional column 'MODFILE' which contain the absolute path to the spectrum file to be used for each object.
The column 'MODSPEC' is not needed in that case.
The spectrum ascii files must contain two columns, the first column have to be the wavelength in Angstrom and the second column have to be the flux in erg/s/cm2/A.

Example:

inCat = "path to input catalog file"

# initialize the class
obs = tips.Observation(inCat, inSpcForm='SplitAscii')
