Data Mining Outline for Exoplanet Data¶
This page outlines the plan for the application of the data-mining approaches to the astrophysical data, initially targeting the exoplanet data.
The aims of this page are to:
- determine to what extent data-mining techniques can predict which stars host extra-solar planets, using the currently available data set
- facilitate a thorough analysis of the available dataset using a wide-range of data-mining techniques
- facilitate the interaction between the different groups, for example by providing example work flows for typical data-mining applications for this data set
- define the responsibilities of the various team members
- provide information relevant to the data-mining aspect to other team members
- serve as a forum to share preliminary results
