Transients Discussion Circle {#transients_discussion_circle}

Supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, tidal disruption flares, active galactic
nuclei etc. In short, any transient/variable event involving
explosive/accretion phenomena.

Every other Friday from 10:00-10:30 am in room Tramontane (second

  • 27 Jan 2017: presentation of the LUVOIR mission (https://asd.gsfc.nasa.gov/luvoir) by Jean-Claude Bouret, in particular the use of a very high-resolution (~120000) UV (~100-400 nm) spectropolarimeter for transient science.

  • 16 Dec 2016: Joshua Esteves will present his results on the structure of White Dwarf stars (in French!), as part of a one-month L3 internship with Stéphane Blondin
